Funds

Energy Impact Partners, a US-headquartered venture capital firm focusing on the energy transition, closed its EIP Deep Decarbonization Frontier Fund I at $485m with contributions from backers including software producer Microsoft, energy supplier Duke Energy and petroleum provider Williams Companies. EIP has already invested in 12 companies through the vehicle, also known as Frontier Fund.

Public markets

EnOcean, a Germany-based provider of internet-of-things technology for energy harvesting, agreed to a reverse merger with Parabellum Acquisition Corp, a special purpose acquisition company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The deal values EnOcean at $120m and is expected to be boosted by $40m in financing. The company was spun off by industrial technology and appliance maker Siemens and its investors included electronics manufacturer Kathrein.

Japan-headquartered ecommerce enablement platform AnyMind Group was approved for an initial public offering on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It had raised a total of about $112m as of July this year from investors that included corporates Japan Post, Proto, Line, Gunosy and VGI Global Media.

M&A

Customer loyalty software producer Eagle Eye Solutions Group agreed to acquire France-based loyalty gamification tool developer Untie Nots in a deal that would allow marketing services network Altavia to exit. The corporate’s Altavia Adventures fund invested €1.7m in Untie Nots in 2019, and Eagle Eye will pay an initial €15m ($15.5m) in cash and shares through a transaction which could reach €38.8m including earnout payments.
