Thomas Whiteaker, who helped spin out Propel Venture Partners from banking firm BBVA, has gone to IBM Ventures as a partner to oversee fintech investments.

Thomas Whiteaker, has left a managing partner position at venture capital firm Propel Venture Partners, to join computing technology producer IBM’s corporate venturing unit, IBM Ventures, as partner.

Whiteaker had spent three years at Propel, the VC firm formed in early 2016 to invest in financial technology developers on behalf of financial services firm BBVA, during which time he oversaw investments in Hippo, Kasisto, Outpatient, Taulia and Hoxme.
