Google Ventures returned to back a second round for the startup, which is building an app helping mobile users in emerging markets access cheaper data plans.

LotusFlare, a US-based startup developing technology that will make the internet more accessible, has secured $6m in series A funding from investors including internet company Google.

Google, which invested through its Google Ventures unit, was joined by Social + Capital Partnership, which led the round, and Metamorphic Ventures. Google Ventures and Metamorphic also took part in the company’s $4m seed round in 2014.
