Newly formed corporate venturing unit Marubeni Ventures has hired Hiroki Eda, formerly of DG Incubation, as managing director.

Hiroki ‘Rocky’ Eda (pictured) has joined Japan-based trading group Marubeni as managing director of its corporate venturing unit.

Before joining Marubeni Ventures, Eda was in charge of overseas investment at DG Incubation, a corporate venture capital subsidiary of internet company Digital Garage.

Eda spent nearly a decade at the unit and his portfolio companies included Twitter, Path, Beautylish, Betaworks, Blockstream and Context Logic, the mobile commerce platform also known as Wish.
