Germany-headquartered reinsurance firm Munich Re has promoted Alex Kamenetskiy (pictured right), Ian Sanders (pictured centre) and Sabeeha Islam (pictured left) at its corporate venture capital arm, Munich Re Ventures.

Launched in 2015, Munich Re Ventures manages more than $1bn in capital and focuses on insurance, cybersecurity, privacy, climate, hardware and transport technologies. It has 44 active portfolio companies and has logged 11 exits.

Kamenetskiy, who was part of GCV Emerging Leaders 2023, joined Munich Re Ventures in 2018 as chief operations and financial officer. In addition to these roles, he has taken up a managing director position, where he will liaise with managing general partner and GCV Powerlist member Jacqueline LeSage to define long-term strategy and manage limited partner relationships.

Sanders and Islam have been appointed senior vice president and vice president of portfolio development, respectively. Sanders, who joined Munich Re Ventures in 2017, will help manage its insurtech portfolio while Islam, who has been with the unit since late 2021, will do the same for its climatetech and transportation investments.
