Richard Lewis Jones helped set up the £150m ($250m) British Gas Venture Capital unit three years ago on behalf of UK utility Centrica and its British Gas subsidiary.

Lewis Jones manages British Gas’s corporate venturing activities alongside colleague Ashley Smith as part of a team of four.

LewisJones previously worked for clean-tech investor Climate Change Capital (CCC) and investment banks Lehman Brothers and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

His recent deal for British Gas involved investing alongside CCC in Germany-based Power Plus, as well as backing home
metering company AlertMe with £5.7m for a 16% stake. Lewis Jones has a master of business administration from London Business School and Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
