Vestec, a Canada-based speech technology company founded by researchers at the local University of Waterloo, has raised $1.5m from angel investor Raman Kumar. Kumar founded and ran MModal, a voice-based medical transcription company. In October, 2012, Vestec raised $6.4m from Sansar Private Equity Partners.
