Francis leaves UCSF Innovation Ventures

Anthony Francis has left UCSF Innovation Ventures, the commercialisation arm of University of California, San Francisco.

After serving four years as the unit’s executive director of technology management, Francis has moved to UT Health San Antonio, the Texas-based health sciences university, as an associate vice president for innovation and development.

Before moving to the US, Francis spent 16 years as the director of Australia-based gaming innovation company BarkingSpider Games. He also spent 10 years as the chairman of Australia-based electrical wiring solutions company Wire By Click.

UCSF Innovation Ventures was founded in 2017 and works to commercialise healthcare and scientific spinouts focusing on medical devices, digital health and drug molecule developments. The unit’s spinouts include BeeKeeper AI, a healthcare development platform that raised $12.1m in a series A round in 2023.
