Every day, Global University Venturing rounds up investments from across the university innovation ecosystem in its deal net.

SoSafe, a Germany-based cybersecurity platform spun out of RWTH Aachen, has raised $73m in a series B round led by Highland Europe, with participation from Acton Capital, Global Founders Capital (GFC), La Famiglia and private investors Carsten Thoma and Christian Henschel. GFC previously backed a seven-figure pre-series A round in March 2020 and a round of undisclosed size in March 2019. Further details about SoSafe’s financing could not be ascertained. PreOmics, a Germany-based mass spectrometry sampling technology business based on research from Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, has secured €13.5m ($15.3m) in series B funding from scientific instruments manufacturer Bruker. High-Tech Gründerfonds, ThinkHealth Ventures and assorted angel investors sold their shares to Broker in a concurrent secondary transaction, financial terms of which were not disclosed, to give Bruker a majority shareholding in PreOmics. The spinout had previously secured $3.8m in a series A round in 2018. Hyivy Health, a Canada-based pelvic health rehabilitation system developer, has secured C$1.1m ($880,000) in a pre-seed round featuring University of Waterloo’s Velocity programme. The round also included Threshold Impact, Beresford Ventures, Equation Angels, Zambon Research Venture, The51, OCI, iGan and Arch Angels. Everwave, a Germany-based operator of artificial intelligence-supported garbage collection boats and floating river platforms to remove plastics and other waste from water, has obtained an undisclosed sum from NRW.Bank and Capacura. Everwave is a spinout of RWTH Aachen and was originally known as Pacific Garbage Screening, before rebranding in late 2020.
