US-based data management and storage platform Formation Data Systems raised $24.2m on Monday in a series A round featuring Dell Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of computer manufacturer Dell.
Venture capital firm Pelion Venture Partners led the round, which also included hedge fund Third Point, venture capital firm Mayfield Fund and commercial bank Square 1 Bank.
Formation Data develops a converged data platform for enterprise IT, software-as-a-service applications and service providers that have enterprise data requirements.
