Web business CRM start-up raises $6m led by Social+Capital Partnership

Intercom, a US-based developer of customer relationship management (CRM) technology for web businesses, has raised $6m series A funding, led by Social+Capital Partnership, the firm founded by former Facebook vice president Chamath Palihapitiya.  Other investors in the round include Freestyle Capital, a seed stage investor for internet software start-ups, and David Sacks, founder and chief executive officer of Yammer.

In an earlier funding round, Intercom raised $1m from investors including Biz Stone, Twitter co-founder.
