Top 50 Emerging Leaders 2022 (in alphabetical order by CVC unit): Tammy Mahn, managing director, Verizon Ventures

Tammy Mahn joined Verizon Ventures, the corporate venture capital (CVC) unit of US-based telecommunications company Verizon, in May 2020 as managing director based in Tel Aviv, where she focuses on startups in Israel and in European markets. She holds numerous board observer positions at portfolio companies.

Verizon Ventures makes early-stage strategic investments in a range of tech-focused companies. Sectors can include 5G networks, automation, edge computing, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, video intelligence, smart home, fintech, sports technology, healthcare, software-as-a-service, mobility, big data, among others.

Regarding her role, Mahn said when she joined Verizon Ventures: “Working with entrepreneurs has fuelled my conviction for practising tech investing within the bigger picture of human prosperity. My passion for agricultural and food tech and the ecosystem needed for communities to thrive also closely aligns with Verizon’s values. My leadership knowledge and deep tech knowledge will serve their strategic charges well.”

Prior to joining Verizon Ventures, Mahn was managing partner at Agrination Venture Capital between 2017 and 2020, where she built the strategy to invest in agriculture and food technology in Israel.

She had previously been managing partner at Moonscape Ventures, investing in the smart cities, internet of things, big data and news and media sectors, after serving a roughly two-year stint as vice-president of relationship management at Hamilton Lane.

Between 2006 and 2010, she worked as principal at Pitango Venture Capital after spending three-and-a-half years as investment manager at Evergreen Venture Partners.

She holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from Tel Aviv University and a master of science in physical chemistry from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
