Alphabet’s growth fund appointed Adam Naor and Monica Plaza as VP of business development and operating partner, respectively.
CapitalG, the growth-stage investment fund of US internet conglomerate Alphabet, has hired Adam Naor and Monica Plaza.
Naor was principal of business development at AWS Startups, the startup community platform of cloud technology group Amazon Web Services. He will be vice president of business development at CapitalG, leading operations, sales and strategic partnerships for the unit’s portfolio companies.
Plaza, formerly a consultant at her advisory firm, Monica Plaza Consulting, was named operating partner at CapitalG. Her role will include helping portfolio companies with business performance and value creation management.
Formed in 2013, CapitalG has $7bn under management and makes financially driven investments for its sole limited partner, Alphabet. It logged 16 IPOs and nine M&A exits to date, with 48 active portfolio companies including wealth management platform Farther and AI coding tool provider Magic.
GCV Powerlist entrant and CapitalG managing partner Laela Sturdy leads the team, which includes about 50 people across the US.
