Insurance company USAA has hired Alex Marquez, a former Intel Capital director, as managing director of corporate development.

Marquez will be responsible for managing USAA’s $250m+ strategic investment fund, with particular emphasis on financial technologies. The Corporate Development Team’s responsibilities include making equity investments.

Marquez is co-founder and chairman of Appscotch, an app marketing startup founded in May 2013, a technology advisory board member at German media company ProSiebenSat.1 Meda AG, and was a director of Intel Capital for over 12 years until February 2013.
