TA Associates, a private equity firm, has invested in Aicent, a US-based provider of data network, messaging and roaming solutions to telecom network operators, to provide an exit for its corporate venturing backers.

In September 2008, Aicent raised an undisclosed amount from chip maker Intel’s corporate venturing unit, while peer Qualcomm Ventures has Aicent as a portfolio company and has marked the deal as an exit. Private equity firm Warburg Pincus also lists Aicent as a portfolio.

With more than 180 telecom operator customers, Aicent provides a platform for cross-border and cross-network data delivery solutions to mobile network operators serving more than three billion mobile users worldwide.

Goodwin Procter provided legal counsel to TA Associates. Morgan Keegan was financial adviser and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati the lawyers to Aicent.
