E.On Group Innovation, part of German electric utility E.On, has appointed Mark Ritzmann as chief executive and chairman of the board of directors.

Formed in 2013, E.On Group Innovation helps the parent firm identify and develop novel green, digital and decentralised technologies by incubating businesses in E.On. Headquartered in Essen, the unit has offices in Berlin, Tel Aviv and Silicon Valley.

Ritzmann joined the unit in 2020 as managing director before making his way up to vice president of corporate and startup partnerships. He joined E.On as vice president of innovation management two years before that.

Ritzmann spent nearly two decades at telecommunications firm Vodafone in various roles in mobile commerce, financial services and business development.

“This marks the beginning of a new chapter in my professional journey, a journey driven by a passion for a culture of innovation, diversity and transformation,” Ritzmann said in a LinkedIn post.
