Scott Pinizzotto has been a senior investment director at Engie New Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of France-based energy producer and utility Engie for six years, where he leads the unit’s North American investment activity based in San Francisco.
Engie New Ventures invests in series B and C rounds, when companies are in their expansion phase to scale, deploying between €2m and €4m per transaction. Target companies are to fit strategically with one or more Engie business groups and in a position to benefit from Engie’s input.
Its portfolio includes the likes of energy storage company Connected Energy, hydrogen production technology developer H2Site, energy efficiency solutions provider Redaptive, internet-of-things network developer Sigfox and energy services management provider Tendril, among others.
Prior to joining in June 2015, Pinizzotto had a three-year stint at Ecova, beginning as senior manager of residential utility solutions product management, then as director of product management for utility solutions.
Between 2010 and 2012, he was based in the US city of Seattle as product management manager for Amazon Green, where he led initiatives focused on supply chain waste reduction and sustainable products and packaging.
He had previously been director of product planning at Indian Motorcycle Company, product marketing manager at Harmony Software and product design engineer at Sony Corporation.
Pinizzotto earned his MBA in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial studies at University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He also holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
