Imec.xpand has returned to back a series B round for sleep diagnostic developer Onera Health, spun out of Imec.

Onera Health, a Netherlands-based sleep diagnostic and monitoring technology spinout of Imec, has closed a €10.5m ($12.7m) series B round featuring the research institute’s venture capital fund Imec.xpand.
VC firm Innovation Industries led the round, with participation from biopharmaceutical firm Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Invest-NL, 15th Rock Ventures and Dutch state-owned regional development agency Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM).
Founded in 2017, Onera has created a medical-grade, at-home wearable device to treat sleep disorders, allowing the collection of data that is currently only possible in sleep clinics.
The spinout will use the series B capital to commercialise its products in Europe and the US.
Tom Vanhoutte, partner at Imec.xpand, said: “From the very beginning, we were convinced that Onera has the potential to revolutionise the remote monitoring industry. We look forward to seeing Onera’s continued success, enabled by this investment, in the commercialisation of its products in Europe and the United States.”
Imec.xpand, Imec itself, Jazz Pharmaceuticals and BOM co-led a $9.3m series A round for Onera in April 2019 together with unnamed backers.
Imec.xpand backed a seed round of undisclosed size in 2018 together with BOM.
