US-based cloud-based educational software developer LearnZillion, backed by publisher O’Reilly Media, has obtained $13m in funding from investors including venture capital firms DCM Ventures and Owl Ventures.

Philanthropic outfit Omidyar Network also contributed funds, alongside 10 other unnamed backers.

Incorporated in 2011, LearnZillion has developed curricular software aimed at primary and secondary education teachers. The curriculum is authored by more than 200 teachers and experts from across the US.
