Matt Krna, formerly a partner at Japanese tech company SoftBank's CVC, has launched a VC service company, Two Meter Capital.
Matt Krna, a former partner at SoftBank Capital, CVC arm of Japanese tech multinational SoftBank, has set up a VC service company called Two Meter Capital.
US-based Two Meter Capital plans to provide portfolio management, financing and exit support for corporate venture units and other customers, such as venture capital funds and family offices. The company says it is already helping manage 180 companies across a number of client portfolios, from early to pre-IPO stages.
There may be increasing demand for exit support and portfolio management as VC funds increasingly come under stress in a difficult fundraising environment. In March, Business Insider reported on the rise of inactive VC funds, which do not make new investments and struggle to raise funds, but which continue as active businesses.
Krna worked at SoftBank Capital as a partner from 2011 until 2015, when it was closed by its parent company. He focused on investments in internet and media startups.
After SoftBank Capital, he became a managing partner at Princeville Global, a VC company, as well as CEO of APTM, an American special purpose acquisition company.
