Venture capital firm Sierra Ventures has led a $6.25m series B funding round into US-based genomics data startup Bina Technologies. The company is reportedly seeking $8m to finally close its B round from an additional investment by a “strategic life sciences investor”. Bina, founded in 2011, raised seed funding from angel investors, including IQ Labs founder Farzad Naimi and Saba Software founder Bobby Yazdani. Bina Technologies combines gene sequencing with data management. Clients already include research institutes and hospitals. The investment will be used to scale up its business, including more than doubling its headcount.
