US-listed online photo printing company Shutterfly has acquired Rogers Communications-backed ThisLife, a local cloud-based provider of photo and video tools, for an undisclosed amount.

In June Canada-based media company Rogers Communications’ corporate venturing unit reportedly helped ThisLife raise $2.75m.

Alongside Rogers Venture Partners backing ThisLife were venture capital firms Madrona Venture Group, which led the round, Morado Ventures, and former AOL exec Brad Garlinghouse, news provider All ThingsD said.

Shutterfly said in the coming months it would “layer ThisLife’s technology onto the Shutterfly platform to enable richer storytelling and easier product creation”.

In April, Shutterfly bought film company Kodak’s online photo services business, Gallery, for a reported $23.8m.
