Jaidev Shergill, managing partner at Capital One Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2024 Powerlist.

Jaidev Shergill has run Capital One Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of US-based financial services firm Capital One, since its inception 10 years ago. In that time, it has made more than 80 investments.

The unit is a multi-stage, strategic investor focused on technology, data and financial services. Capital One Ventures is involved in venture investments and commercial engagements with the startups in its portfolio. The team has a strong emphasis on building relationships between the parent company and portfolio startups. Some 60% of the companies the ventures team has invested in have a broader relationship with Capital One.

A notable recent investment is Dallas-based Island, which earlier this year announced a $175m Series D round. The technology startup has developed an enterprise browser designed with new browser controls, audit capabilities and functionalities that are applicable to a number of use cases. The team also recently made an investment into Veza, the identity security company.

In 2023, Capital One Ventures invested in Prove, which addresses mobile identity verification with speed and efficiency, lifting the burden for customers. Another 2023 investment was Inspirato, the luxury travel subscription brand. With its access to properties around the world, a well developed technology footprint and white glove service capabilities, Inspirato offers a unique membership for luxury travellers.

Shergill joined Capital One in 2013 after Bundle, the startup that he founded, was acquired by the company. Bundle leveraged behavioural and economic data to rate small businesses. Prior to starting Bundle,

Shergill was president of the venture capital investing practice at Citigroup, now known as Citi Ventures. He started his career as a management consultant at Deloitte and FMCG Direct.
