Cisco had agreed to back Jon Sakoda, founder of Decibel and a former GCV Rising Stars award winner.

Decibel Partners, an independent venture capital firm with Cisco as its cornerstone limited partner, has filed to raise$275m for its second fund. Last year, Decibel closed its first fund from 36 foundations, endowments and others alongside Cisco according to its prior filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Cisco had agreed to back Jon Sakoda (pictured), founder of Decibel and a former GCV Rising Stars award winner, according to Derek Idemoto, in his GCV Powerlist award profile. He said: “We are a foundational LP in Decibel, the first independent early-stage VC implemented by a major technology company.” Cisco has at least 45 limited partner (LP) positions in 47 countries, made more than 200 acquisitions and over 120 disruptive startup companies in its portfolio.
