A snapshot of the corporate-backed venturing activity in Asia-Pacific show it is the second most active region in terms of corporate-backed venture deals and exit count.

APAC is the second most active region around the globe in terms of both corporate-backed venture deals and exit count, as the following two bar charts sourced from GCV Analytics illustrate. In recent years, the deal count has been on the rise – from 347 rounds registered in 2014 up to 814 last year and 513 just during the first half of 2019.

The growth of deal flow has gone hand in hand with a corresponding growth in number of exits from the region – 46 in 2017 and 44 in 2018, up from 32 in 2014.

Of the active corporate investors in APAC countries (i.e. the ones that have taken a minority stake in at least one deal for the given period), the majority – or around three fourths – have been historically investors from the same region, as the following chart shows.
