The institution has committed $40m to Chengwei Ventures Evergreen Fund LP and $55m to two Eclipse Ventures funds.

University of Michigan is investing $95m into funds raised by US-based venture capital firm Eclipse Ventures and China-based peer Chengwei Ventures, according to DealStreetAsia.
Chengwei Ventures Evergreen Fund LP has secured a $40m commitment from the institution, while Eclipse Ventures has received a total of up to $55m for two of its funds.
Chengwei Ventures is targeting a $1.5bn close for the fund. It backs domestic companies in sectors such as manufacturing, internet, healthcare and consumer goods.
Eclipse Ventures meanwhile focuses on technology developers, primarily in the hardware space, and has invested in areas as diverse as chipmakers and infant health monitoring device producers.
