Andy Shenk, CEO of UniServices, the commercialisation arm of the University of Auckland in New Zealand, is retiring after 12 years in the role.

Shenk, who has an academic background in biology, joined as CEO in 2013. Before that, he worked for Fonterra, a New Zealand multinational dairy cooperative, where he became senior vice president of venture investments, leading its CVC team.

Under his tenure at UniServices, the technology transfer office established and then managed the Inventors’ Fund, which makes pre-seed and seed investments to commercialise the University of Auckland’s research.

In a LinkedIn post announcing his retirement, UniServices said: “We are grateful for his vision, commitment, and passion, which have shaped the success of UniServices and helped strengthen New Zealand’s innovation landscape.”
