Jinliu Wang, a former vice-chancellor for research and economic development at SUNY, will lead the consolidation of OSU's innovation programming.
Jinliu Wang is set to join Ohio State University (OSU) as its first executive vice-president for research, innovation and knowledge enterprise.
Wang most recently served as interim president of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, part of State University of New York, where she was also vice-chancellor for research and economic development.
At OSU, she will oversee the amalgamation of multiple innovation-related offices including the departments for tech commercialisation, research and corporate engagement.
She will also be tasked with accelerating OSU’s research and collaborative activity and attracting top-tier talent to the university from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Her appointment forms part of a wider overhaul of OSU’s innovation structures under its newly-appointed president Kristina Johnson.
The restructuring also includes closing its Office of Strategic Management, an initiative formed under Johnson’s predecessor.
Kristina Johnson said: “Grace is a proven executive who will spearhead our efforts to grow the research enterprise and accelerate the translation of novel technologies into the marketplace by leveraging our existing strengths in research, innovation, corporate partnerships and entrepreneurship.”
