Brian Cummings, the vice president of Ohio State University (OSU) Office of Technology Commercialisation, is to leave the university after just two years on the job.
Cummings was recruited from the University of Utah to bolster OSU tech transfer operations. While the OSU’s latest tech transfer annual report shows increases in patents, licensing deals, and spin-out generation, revenues have remained static.
OSU chief financial officer Geoff Chatas said the decision was not related to Cumming’s performance. He said: “He has helped developed a strong office. He has helped put a team in place and he is leaving. We’re seeing encouraging results and a lot of momentum. This is really not about Brian.”
Also departing from OSU is executive director of the Office of Technology Commercialisation Ray Atilano, recruited by Cummings shortly after coming on board.
