Innsbruck’s customer chatbot spinout Onlim has raised funding from tourism tech firm Feratel and the university ahead of a series A round scheduled for next year.

Onlim, an Austria-based customer chatbot spinout of University of Innsbruck, has secured a mid-six-digit euro (€100,000 = $110,000) sum in a round backed by the university, Trending Topics reported today.
The round was led by tourism technology developer Feratel and also included unspecified existing investors. Onlim is expected to seek series A funding in 2019.
Founded in 2015, Onlim offers automated communication services through means such as customer chatbots and voice-controlled apps.
The technology is designed to identify the semantics of questions posed to it before fielding a response drawn from Onlim’s content database.
Onlim will use the capital to solidify its foothold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and is also considering expansion into the UK and US.
The company’s clients include energy supplier Wien Energie, shoe brand Tamaris and the tourism board for Seefeld, Austria.
Onlim reportedly secured a six-digit dollar sum in July 2017 from Feratel, in a deal which led to Feratel assisting Onlim with tourism-orientated customer communication tools.
