The rest of the 100 (in alphabetical order): David Wise, director, Maryland Momentum Fund
David Wise became director of the Maryland Momentum Fund, a $25m initiative that supports companies emerging from the 12 institutions that comprise University System of Maryland (USM) and its incubators, in June 2017.
Wise was already an adviser with UM Ventures, the joint tech transfer initiative of University of Maryland Strategic Partnership, and a business competition judge at University of Maryland, College Park and University of Maryland School of Medicine.
The fund’s portfolio includes NextStep Robotics, a US-based medical device manufacturer based on research at several Maryland institutions, that raised $750,000 in February this year.
Robert Caret, chancellor of USM, said at the time of Wise’s appointment: “David Wise brings more than 30 years in his business career to this important role as director of the Maryland Momentum Fund.
“His varied experience and venture capital connections make David an ideal fit to lead a funding mechanism that is vital to driving USM’s growth in technology transfer.”
