Knowledge Transfer Network, a subdivision of government research grant body Innovate UK focused on networking opportunities, has appointed Alicia Greated (pictured) as its chief executive officer, Insider.co.uk reported on Wednesday.
Greated began the role last month and will deliver her inaugural speech at an event in Edinburgh on October 9 advocating for KTN’s knowledge transfer activities.
She has been director of research and enterprise at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh for almost four years, having previously headed the $920m Newton Fund, established by the UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, between 2014 and November 2015.
Greated’s other career highlights include two director posts with Research Councils UK – the predecessor to national science policy administrator UK Research and Innovation – in New Delhi from 2008 until 2012 and then Beijing from 2012 until 2014.
She was head of engineering at the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council between 2001 and 2006, and associate director for research at the Arts and Humanities Research Council from 2007 until 2008.
Greated said: “I am excited and honoured to be joining the KTN team. I look forward to building on the important contributions the KTN has already made in stimulating innovation to strengthen the UK economy – ultimately enhancing the lives of those around us.
