Rich Ferrie has bid farewell to University of Manchester after 14 years to join University College Cork's tech transfer operation.
University College Cork has appointed Rich Ferrie (pictured) as director of its office of technology transfer.
Ferrie joins UCC after 14 years at University of Manchester, latterly directing operations at its tech transfer unit UMIP since 2011, after a spell as head of the university’s biomedical intellectual property unit from 2004 until 2011.
He has concurrently served on an international panel for national tech transfer policy office Knowledge Tech Transfer for the past six years, supervising an operations strengthening exercise credited with enhancing Ireland’s reputation in the field.
In addition, Ferrie remains a committee member at commercialisation and knowledge exchange forum PraxisAuril, directing a course on spinout generation.
Earlier in his career, Ferrie was a biomedicine-focused business development manager at Victoria University of Manchester’s innovation department, Manchester Innovation, from 2000 until 2004, following a three-year tenure as sales and marketing manager at pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca between 1997 and 2000.
