The new hire will replace Diarmuid O'Brien, who has headed Cambridge Enterprise for three years.

University of Cambridge

The UK university is recruiting for a new CEO to head its technology transfer office, Cambridge Enterprise, after the current CEO, Diarmuid O’Brien, took on a new role as the pro-vice-chancellor for innovation at the university.

O’Brien took up the new position in April but has remained the CEO of Cambridge Enterprise one day a week.

The university does not have a fixed timeframe for hiring a new CEO, said a spokesperson.

O’Brien joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2021 from Trinity College Dublin, where he was chief innovation officer. As CEO O’Brien launched Innovate Cambridge, a strategy to drive innovation in the city, and Founders, an initiative to provide capital and mentoring to entrepreneurs.
