Northpond and Deerfield have co-led a $75m series C round for Encodia, seemingly the first publicly disclosed funding for the WashU spinout.
Encodia, a US-based protein analysis technology spinout of Washington University in St Louis, closed a $75m series C round today co-led by Northpond Ventures and Deerfield Management.
GV, Alexandria Venture Investments and Nan Fung Life Sciences, respective units of internet technology conglomerate Alphabet, life sciences real estate developer Alexandria Real Estate Equities and property group Nan Fung, also participated in the round.
Arch Venture Partners, Biomatics Capital, Decheng Capital and Tao Capital filled out the investor line-up.
Encodia is commercialising large-scale protein analytics through a benchtop instrument. It will use the investment to accelerate platform development.
Sharon Kedar of Northpond and Andrew ElBardissi of Deerfield have been appointed to Encodia’s board of directors.
Encodia does not appear to have disclosed any previous funding round, though it identified Arch Venture Partners, Biomatics Capital, Decheng Capital, Tao Capital Partners and Nan Fung Life Sciences as returning backers.
