Every day, Global University Venturing rounds up investments from across the university innovation ecosystem in its deal net.

Celestial AI, a US-based developer of a software and hardware platform for machine learning chipsets, collected $56m in a series A round on Friday from investors including The Engine, the venture firm formed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Imec.xpand, the venture fund of research institute Imec. The round was led by Koch Disruptive Technologies, an investment subsidiary of chemicals and energy conglomerate Koch Industries, and also attracted Fitz Gate Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on Princeton University; M-Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of pharmaceutical firm Merck Group; venture capital firm Tyche Partners; and investment firm Temasek’s Xora Innovation fund. The money will drive the recruitment of more engineers, product development and supplier engagements.

DyeMansion, a Germany-based industrial additive manufacturing company, has raised €15m ($16.9m) in funding from the European Innovation Council and European Investment Bank, according to Deutsche Startups. DyeMansion previously obtained $14.3m in an August 2020 round that featured UVC Partners, the venture capital firm aligned with TU Munich, as well as Nordic Alpha Partners, Btov Partners, KGAL and AM Ventures. UVC was already among the backers of a $5m round two years earlier.

Damae Medical, a France-based skin cancer diagnostics company, has raised €5m ($5.6m) in a series A round backed by Paris Saclay Seed Fund, the venture fund of Université Paris-Saclay, Tech.eu reported on Friday. BNP Paribas Développement, a vehicle for financial services firm BNP Paribas, led the round, while Kurma Partners also took part. Paris Saclay Seed Fund previously supported a $2.2m funding round in 2017.

EktaH, a France-based weight loss-focused nutrition developer spun out of University of Bourgogne and Inserm, has raised an undisclosed amount of capital from regional tech transfer officer Satt Sayens. Founded in July 2021, EktaH has secured the cash as it launches its first clinical trial and targets an international expansion.
