BiocreAtech, a China-based biotech developer, has raised $7.9m in pre-series A financing from investors including Cash Capital, the investment arm of Chinese Academy of Sciences, according to DealStreetAsia. The round was led by YuanBio Venture Capital and also attracted Shenzhen Angel FOF and Xiamen Fengxue.

Planck Innovation (also known as Pulang Innovation), a China-based nanotechnology developer, has raised $7.9m in an angel round featuring CAS Star, the early-stage venture arm of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Topping Capital, DealStreetAsia reported yesterday. Deals database CrunchBase suggests the round was raised in December 2021, however its source is its peer ITjuzi and original coverage could not be found.

6Estates, a Singapore-based spinout of National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University’s Next research centre that has developed a document processing software platform, has raised $6.2m in a series B-plus round led by conglomerate Sinar Mas, DealStreetAsia reported today. Seeds Capital and Farquhar VC also took part in the round, which followed a series B led by GDP Venture and backed by Bank Central Asia’s Central Capital Ventura unit, according to DealStreetAsia.

Artugen Therapeutics, an Ireland-based provider of clinical research and development services focused on bacterial infections, has secured $5m in funding from Morningside Group, the Irish Times reported on Friday. Artugen has now raised $32m altogether since being spun out of University College Cork in 2016, according to the report, with almost all of the cash having been supplied by Morningside.

DeepDrive, a Germany-based e-mobility technology company, has raised €4.3m ($4.9m) in a seed round backed by UVC Partners, the venture capital affiliate of TU Munich’s tech transfer office UnternehmerTUM, as well as Bayern Kapital-managed Wachstumsfonds Bayern and private investors Peter Mertens and Jonas Rieke. Founded in May 2021, DeepDrive has developed a powertrain for electric vehicles that it says is 20% more efficient than current offerings and can be manufactured at low cost.

CellEctric Biosciences, an Austria-based electrodynamic cell manipulation system developer spun out of Austrian Institute of Technology, completed its inaugural funding round today led by IST Cube, the venture fund of Institute of Science and Technology Austria, with contributions from angel investors. The size of the round was not disclosed.

Peak Health, a US-based health insurer established by West Virginia University Medicine (WVU Medicine), has added health systems Marshall Health and Mountain Health Network to its shareholders. Financial terms were not disclosed. Peak Health will begin offering coverage to WVU Medicine’s employees and their dependents in January 2023 before a wider commercial launch in 2024.
