Japan-based Cyfuse Biomedical raises 1.4 billion yen ($12m) to support the development of 3D printing technology which can produce human tissue.

Cyfuse Biomedical, a developer of a 3D printer which can be used to print human tissue, has raised $12m.

The Japan-based firm was backed by early-stage university venturing fund University of Tokyo Edge Capital, venture firm Jafco, and robotic limb manufacturer Cyberdyne.

The company, founded in 2010, has developed a 3D printer which can print living cells as artificial human tissue. It is hoped that the technology could eventually be used to print out organs based on a patient’s own…
