HDmessaging, a developer of messaging and chat applications, has raised $3m in a series A round from IDG Ventures, GrandBank Capital, Nexit Ventures and Lighthouse Capital Partners.

IDG Ventures, the India-based corporate venturing subsidiary of media and research corporation the International Data Group, has participated in a $3m series A round of funding into US-based HDmessaging, an enhanced mobile messaging company which provides free API. HDmessaging processes 1 billion messages a month. Venture capital firm GrandBanks Capital led the round, with participation also from Nexit Ventures and Lighthouse Capital Partners. 

The new funds will be used for product development.

HD’s users include Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, Singtel, and T-Mobile.

HD’s founders previously set up mobile advertising company Enpocket, which was later sold to Nokia for $150m.
