Alex Cochand, who helped Avios launch its startup investment programme in 2017, has returned to CVC through a director role at SEI Ventures.

Alex Cochand has joined SEI Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of US financial services firm SEI Investments Company, as a director.

Launched in 2019, SEI Ventures invests in financial technology developers working on wealth management, capital markets, insurance, lending, banking and blockchain technologies. It typically provides between $1m and $10m per deal from series A to B rounds.

SEI Ventures’ portfolio includes corporate bond market data platform BondCliQ and AI-equipped open banking service Bud. It has not disclosed any new investments after announcing these two deals in 2022.

Cochand spent three years and a half from 2021 at venture capital firm QVentures, most recently as a partner. Before that, he helped loyalty rewards programme operator Avios launch its corporate venturing unit, Avios Ventures, in 2017 while working as a manager at investment manager Downing Ventures.
