Giallorenzo launched and managed BlackBerry's corporate VC unit, Blackberry Ivy Innovation Fund.

Vito Giallorenzo has left BlackBerry, where he has been since late 2017 wearing multiple hats.

Between 2017 to 2023, he was senior vice president for corporate development, chief operating officer of the company’s Internet of Things business, then general manager of the BlackBerry Ivy Innovation Fund, the corporate VC unit that he launched in 2021 which backed startups related to BlackBerry’s automotive operating system.

Last year, he became chief financial officer of QNX, Blackberry’s vehicle software business unit.

Until recently, he was a board member of observer at several of the fund’s portfolio companies, including fleet payment platform provider CarIQ, preventative car maintenance technology developer CerebrumX and battery performance company Electra Vehicles.

“With BlackBerry moving forward as a unified business, I feel confident that my work here is complete. I’m excited to pass the torch to my capable colleagues, knowing that the foundation is solid and the team is ready for the future,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

He has not yet specified what his next move will be.
