The Japanese aerial survey firm’s corporate venturing unit will invest in spatial information and decarbonisation technologies.

Kenji Takahashi

Japanese geospatial technology group Asia Air Survey launched a corporate venture capital arm of undisclosed size yesterday.

While it is unclear who will lead the unit, Kenji Takahashi (pictured), who joined Asia Air Survey in April this year, is listed as head of the firm’s new business creation group’s planning department. He lists VC investment as part of his job description in his LinkedIn profile.

Founded in 1954, Asia Air Survey has built an aerial triangulation system, which is a measurement technology used for land conservation, natural disaster prevention, city planning and forestry.

The unnamed CVC unit will target startups developing spatial information technology to tackle climate change, achieve decarbonisation and carbon neutrality, and identify new sensing methods.
