Hanwha Life took part in a $20m series B round for Airs Medical while Allianz-backed AV8 Ventures helped Think Bioscience close $17m in seed funding.

United Imaging Healthcare, a China-based medical imaging system provider backed by insurer China Life, has listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange’s Star Market in a $1.6bn initial public offering. China Life had co-led a $505m series A round for the company in 2017 valuing it above $5bn post-money, representing roughly half of its current valuation.
Funds
China-based investment firm Winreal Investment has reached a RMB1.3bn ($150m) first close for a yuan-denominated vehicle called Rongteng 5G Industry Fund II, having secured commitments from limited partners including carmaker SAIC Motor, diversified conglomerate Haitian Group, kitchen and amenity product manufacturer BRTR, optical module producer InnoLight and semiconductor supplier Nebula Tech as well as financial services firm United Overseas Bank’s UOB Venture Management unit and private investor Hou Weigui. The fund has a $293m target and will invest in 5G technology developers.
Japan-headquartered trading firm Marubeni Corporation has chipped into Africa Innovation & Healthcare Fund, a venture capital vehicle also known as AHF 2 that is overseen by investment group AAIC Investment. AHF 2 invests in Africa-based healthcare technology developers.
