Matthieu Benkerant promoted to group director of VC funds.

France-listed retailer Carrefour Group has set up its corporate venture capital fund and promoted Matthieu Benkerant as group director of funds.

Carrefour joined forces with local VC firm Daphni to launch Dastore, an €80m ($90m) venture capital fund aimed at investing in early-stage startups which are addressing the digital retail space.

Previously, Carrefour had committed to external VCs, such as Partech’s Entrepreneur II fund back in 2016.

Separately, Ashwin Puri has joined retail-focused XRC Labs as a senior associate.
