Karl Swensson will be investment director at PINC, the corporate venture arm of the food and beverage group.

Karl Swensson, the former founder of Swedish furniture retailer Ikea’s CVC unit, has joined Paulig Group’s corporate venture arm, PINC, as investment director.

Swensson joined the Ikea Group in 2017 and helped launch its corporate venture arm and introduce venture investments as a separate asset class under Ikea Group Financial Asset Management. Ikea Venture & Growth Capital, which takes stakes in venture and growth investments, has 25 early- to late-stage startups in its portfolio.

Paulig Group, a Finnish family-owned food and beverage company, is known for its namesake coffee brand. Its CVC arm invests in agrifoodtech startups.

PINC recently invested in Amatera, a non-GMO breeding technology developer, and Mycoverse, a developer of fungal-based biological crop protection solutions.
