Doron Ben-Meir previously served as vice-president, enterprise, at University of Melbourne until late 2019.

Doron Ben-Meir joined Monash University as deputy vice-chancellor, enterprise and engagement, and senior vice-president last week.

The appointment marks a return to a senior executive role within academia: Ben-Meir previously acted as vice-president, enterprise, at University of Melbourne from July 2016 to November 2019 after having run commercial services arm University of Melbourne Commercial from June 2015.

Following his departure from Melbourne, Ben-Meir joined venture capital firm InterValley Ventures as chairman in January 2020 and Australian Sports Innovation Centre of Excellence as an advisory council member in October 2021. He has also been managing director of commercialisation consultancy Superb Solutions since 1992.

Ben-Meir has already collaborated with Monash University previously, founding BioCurate as a joint venture between Monash and Melbourne in 2016 to boost the translation of biopharmaceutical research.

At Monash, he replaces Damien Farrell who had acted as interim deputy vice-chancellor, enterprise and engagement, and senior vice-president during the extensive national search for a permanent appointee.
