Pedro Compani’s career began in Brazil’s financial markets and later evolved into building corporate innovation and venture programmes inside large institutions. He sees that experience mainly as a foundation for the work he enjoys most today – partnering with entrepreneurs and helping them grow.
At BS2 Ventures, Compani leads a corporate venture strategy that combines equity investing with credit-based products, including venture debt. The approach reflects the needs of the bank and the realities of the Brazilian market.
What Compani enjoys most about the role is origination and relationship-building. He is enthusiastic about working alongside founders, understanding their ambitions and helping them navigate funding decisions. He finds particular satisfaction in providing capital that meaningfully accelerates a company’s trajectory, whether by enabling expansion, improving liquidity or supporting new product development.

The biggest challenges now, he says, are macroeconomic. High interest rates and limited liquidity in Brazil have made venture investing more complex since 2022, forcing investors to be more disciplined and realistic. Even so, Compani remains optimistic, pointing to the quality of entrepreneurs and solutions in the market and to the opportunities that emerge when capital is deployed thoughtfully.
For those entering corporate venture capital today, his advice is straightforward. First, invest in education – understanding financial mechanics, market dynamics and deal structures is essential. Second, build a strong network, as access to founders and high-quality opportunities depends heavily on relationships. In a difficult market, he says preparation and connectivity are what allow investors to continue creating value.
