The Telesystem-backed irrigation management software provider has secured $5.9m from Sustainable Development Technology Canada.

Hortau, a Canada-based irrigation management technology developer backed by media and technology holding company Telesystem, has received $5.9m in funding from government-owned cleantech fund Sustainable Development Technology Canada (STDC).

Founded in 2002, Hortau has built an irrigation management service that couples software with real-time field monitoring stations to track agricultural indicators such as soil moisture and crop health.

STDC’s investment will support further development of the company’s irrigation analytics technologies.
