Rajaram promoted at Aflac Global Ventures

Bharat Rajaram has been promoted at Aflac Global Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of US insurance provider Aflac.

After more than four years as managing director and chief financial officer of Alfac Global Ventures, Rajaram will now be managing director and head of the unit. Nadeem Khan, formerly the president of Aflac Global Ventures has left the unit as part of the company reorganisaiton.

Rajaram began his stint at Aflac in 2009, starting as a consultant to strategy planning and analysis. He then went on to take various positions such as director of strategy planning and governance before moving to the CVC unit in 2017 as VP and managing director. He was a GCV Rising Star in 2018 and 2019.

Before that, Rajaram was an associate for two years at venture capital firm Taproot Ventures from 2006. He then took up the interim CFO role focusing on startup management and advisory at market research group Novaisys for eight months before joining Aflac.

Launched in 2016, Aflac Global Ventures invests in healthcare startups working on cancer therapies, healthcare, financial technology, IoT and data analytics sectors. The unit has 19 active portfolio companies including customer service automation platform Ushur, impact analytics platform YvesBlue and Betterment, which provides an investing and savings app.
