UChicago Startup Investment Program is among a group of backers that provided $47m to support the launch of a Florida-focused home insurance carrier, the first of Kin's subsidiaries to underwrite its own policies.
US-based insurance technology developer Kin Insurance received $47m in funding yesterday from investors including UChicago Startup Investment Program, a venture capital fund set up by University of Chicago for startups affiliated with the institution.
The round also featured Avanta Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of insurer CSAA Insurance, and asset management firm Hudson Structured Capital Management, along with several unnamed participants.
